Masters of Egyptian Choreography DVD set, Volumes 1 ~ 3
The title of this DVD set, and the fact that it includes Randa Kamel, got my hopes up - but I have to say this set was a little disappointing.
Each DVD features a different dancer. Volume 1 is by far the best, both in quality of teaching and in production values. It's by Randa Kamel, who teaches a typical Randa routine. If you can get this set at a good price, it's worth buying for this DVD alone.
Volume 2 is Diana Tarkhan (a retired dancer based in Alexandria), who teaches two full choreographies. This volume simply didn't look as professional as volume 1, the choreography was fairly simple and Diana even looked a bit out of time occasionally, which is odd given her substantial experience as a professional dancer.
Volume 3 is the weak point, by someone called Leila of Cairo. The camerawork on this volume wasn't good so perhaps it's not fair to judge Leila by this DVD, but I wasn't that impressed.
Each routine is performed in costume as well, and there's also an interview with each dancer.
