Belly Dance Make-Up – Want to stand out from the crowd?
But how am I actually going to look on the night?
You feel the knots in your stomach and the anxiety starts to take over. Visions of the audience staring blankly at you with their poker faces – you have no idea what they are thinking, you question yourself over and over, what am I doing?
Ever had that experience? I have! Many, Many times.
As an ex Latin & Salsa dancer (who also dabbled in bellydance, burlesque & even hip hop), I am only too familiar with the situation you might be going through. If there’s one lesson that I’ve learnt it’s making sure I take a little extra time to plan & try new looks. You can step out in “character” feeling much more confident and focus your energies on nailing that routine – rather than how you look. It really doesn’t matter what you’re wearing, any outfit – from the most extravagant to the most basic - can be enhanced even further with the right makeup!
So let me share a couple of fail-safe tips with you:
If you do nothing else, invest in a good pair of human hair re-usable false eyelashes that will compliment your look (not drown it). Lashes are a really cheap way to take you into FABULOUS. You can use Full, ¾ or ½, Designer, Decorative/Colored or Natural
So easy to apply with this “Clip-on” technique – revolutionary in the Industry !
I can’t tell you the amount of clients who go outside of their comfort zone who thank me later for “making them do it" - here are some pointers:
Eyes - Find the colors that make your eyes POP.
Are you cool (Silver) or warm (Gold)? Decide what looks better on you. Metallics are IN this season, so why not try a glitter eyeliner in gold and/or silver, like the image at the top of the page? Imagine how GREAT they would look with your bellydance outfit? I use LimeCrime Makeup for all of my looks – great quality, great value for money.
10 steps to Luscious Lips
o Step 1 – Exfoliate – Use a disposable mascara wand to wipe away any dead skin cells
o Step 2 – Prime – use a primer or even just some foundation
o Step 3 – First line your lips with a pencil the same color as your lipstick, before coloring in your whole lip with the pencil
o Step 4 – Blot, then top with your lipstick of choice
o Step 5 – Blot again and re-apply another coat
o Step 6 – Use your foundation brush around your lips (with a little foundation) to clean up any “mess”
o Step 7 – Outline again with your pencil liner – for that really sharp edge
o Step 8 – Blot one more time, then reapply a final coat
o Step 9 – Top with a lip powder (or you can even use an eyeshadow in a similar color)
o Step 10 – You have LUSCIOUS lips that will last as long as you need them
Remember though, no matter what you choose to wear, or how to compliment your look to really make you stand out from the crowd, you should do what makes you feel good ! When you feel good your energy levels increase and you “exude” confidence – everything that a GREAT performer needs.
Let your inspiration & creativity guide you into the performance of your life.
